Let me start this by saying, I’m not sick of vampire movies. I am sick of this shit that Anne Rice started, which is basically the pussification of vampires; some doomed, psychologically damaged twit whining about his plight as a bloodsucker.
I’m so tired of the vampire being the foppish dandy prancing around the countryside looking for true love, or the emo-looking, colossal jagoff that appeals to teenage girls. We need to bring the vampire back as a true monster.
Films like Nosferatu, From Dusk Till Dawn, Salem's Lot, 30 Days of Night are really my ideal portrayal of the ravenous, and unholy undead that look at us as nothing but lunch.
These creatures aren't meant to be your fantasy, but an unliving nightmare. For a good recent look at what I am talking about, I gotta say that the American remake of "Let me in" was spot on with it's portrayal of the concept. Don't get me wrong it could be seen as a love story, but if so, your view of love needs to be clinically questioned. Check it out.
Hey, couldn't hurt ?
